wedding dress yammerings...
So now that the initial shock has worn off I'm starting to think about the wedding and of course my wedding dress. I mean duh right?
So we're thinking a fall wedding or possibly even a winter wedding, regardless I don't really like strapless dresses. I feel like everyone gets married in a strapless dress that lookes like a wadded napkin with the rouching. I want something really timeless and elegant. What I really want is what Grace Kelly wore. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://fashionbride.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/gracekellydress.jpg&imgrefurl=http://fashionbride.wordpress.com/2008/09/16/royal-bride-22/&usg=__JLcCL2nnwZ2Z2HDglaRrXPgZmPk=&h=320&w=240&sz=63&hl=en&start=10&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=NwEDsh92cxVZ0M:&tbnh=118&tbnw=89&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgrace%2Bkelly%2Bwedding%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1
You don't get much more elegant than that.
Now I swore that I would never ever EVER make me own wedding dress but....http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v2979-products-7971.php?page_id=186 someone talk some sense into me!!!
I'm really very drawn to the 1950's style I like this one http://www.etsy.com/listing/37047741/1950s-vintage-ivory-white-silk-kauffman?ref=sr_gallery_27&ga_search_query=wedding+gown&ga_search_type=&ga_page=2&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title
and I like this one http://www.etsy.com/listing/31295226/absolutly-stunning-wedding-dress
Why do I like old things so much? there's an allure to the classic elegance...if it doesn't look dated now and it's 50 years old hopefully it won't look dated in another 50.
I'm thinking about starting a blog soley for wedding stuff so people who aren't interested in my wedding yammerings don't have to listen
There's something really sad about a buslte dress put over a hoop...it just looks distorted and sad, but Imagine It would be quite lovely if it was on it's proper foundations www.etsy.com/listing/35845075/sale-late-1800s-antique-victorian-lace

And you can always put in a "wedding group" friend filter that folks can opt-in and join to read by letting you know they are interested.

And I agree, strapless = ugh. I think you need to have the right build for it. And I'm not even sure what the right build would even be.
And congrats!
