skirt experiments

So inspired by [livejournal.com profile] sarahbellem 's great article on the historical accuracy of bumrolls I've been doing some experiements with my GDR's skirt. I realize that having it be a seperate skirt and doublet is probably less period but I need to get this mostly finished but able to be altered when I have [livejournal.com profile] ajcostumes 's help on Friday. I'll whip stitch the two pieces together for wear on friday night.

So here's my skirt. Currently it has a strip of felt sewn to the finished top edge, it's knife pleated to the back and then because it still wasn't giving me enough fullness I made little sausages out of rolled felt and stuck that between the felt strip and the skirt fabric...here's the result so far

that's all I have so far.
