More pink fluff

Lets talk underwear shall we?

So I own ONE bustle.....

And that's just not the shape of my delicious pink confection. My hour of perusing fashion plates this morning makes me think it's early 1870s or even 1869 somewhere in that strange transition between the elliptical hoop and the bustle.

So what the heck does one put under that? I have the option of TV108 with my awesome employee discount. So the real question is anyone ever made it? Do you think the two bones around the entire bottom would help with the very round shape?

demode used a similar bustle to yours and added a single bone to her flounced petticoat to get the rounded shape of her 70/71 dress.

So based on that I would think that TV108 would be great.

At the Halifax Citadel, the year is perpetually 1869. I did try a couple of the new styles of 1870, but used the round hoop and got favourable results. The shape has more to do with the skirting being tied up than an actual bustle, though a ruffled petticoat over the round hoop works nicely too.

Unfortunately, I don't have any photographs from that era. It was back when digital cameras used big 3" floppy disks!

Thats such a lovely silhouette. I'm usually not keen on the "true" bustle (I do 1869) but you do make them look so lovely.

Yeah, I think the 108 will be great! It makes a big difference for my early bustle dresses.

For my pink plaid gown I made the 1872 bustled hoop from Corsets and Crinolines, and the shape of it was great. I absolutely love it. (I just realized I never took any pictures of the hoop on it's own, and it's packed away at the moment.) Apart from some stupid mistakes on my part with measurements, it was actually very easy to make, because it's 5 pieces. But I can take some pictures and do a quick write-up on it if you'd be interested.
