a gown for Amanda
We're having a winter regency outing to celebrate
mandie_rw's birthday (although she's pretending it's not her birthday hoping I'll forget. HA!) and I had happily picked out this gown from the MET to do a spin on in a pink wool-like-fabric from Jomar (It's probably a blend as it's Jomar and therefore alllll a mystery).
I started with the pattern I made for my white bib front regency and decided since it was for Amanda's birthday I would use her patented patterning technique. Lay out the pieces and cut in places that look like they might be right...hey she gets marvelous clothes out of it!
Three mock ups later and it seems to have actually worked, color me surprised.

and if my stays are to be believed I've lost weight..or they've stretched, either is possible.
I discovered the lovely pink wool..I only have two and 2/3 yards of, and there's a moth hole half a yard in...soooo I don't think I have enough to make a regency long sleeved gown with it.
potential options.
1. MINI SKIRTS FOR ALL
2. I make it a short gown with a wool petticoat out of charturse wool I have 3.5 yards of and be an easter egg.
3. I make it green out of the wool stated above if I can get it out of 3.5 yards.
4. I make it teal out of the gabardine
5. I have piles and piles of red wool crepe...I know it's wrong...but it's HERE...and I'm not allowed to buy more fabric before moving
oh and about the moving thing. We are officially moving into the new place. We have two weeks of overlap which I'm hoping will allow us to paint and not have a stressful move. Rob very nicely suggested I pull out all the things for the francaise dinner now and put them all together. He's smarter than he looks some days :-)
