one step forward, two steps back.

I made some progress on the titanic dress. The pattern came on Wednesday. Thursday I cut out the bodice, constructed the inner layer and figured out where the velvet goes vs the lace. I ended up using lace from the stash because, well, we're broke. Friday I carefully sewed the lace onto the bodice, cutting a piecing it together so it would make the curve around under the arm.

Today I gathered the bodice onto the fitted lining, and put in the sleeves. The left one looks fab...the right one...it doesn't have any actual goobers somehow it's just not laying as nicely, perhaps if I trim out the seam allowances and steam the heck out of it. Then I started working on the skirt! I was making such stellar progress. I got it all cut out, even remembered to add extra to account for the side pleats...then got it all sewn together and tried it on! The side pleats are at my ANKLES instead of my KNEES and I SERGED the seam allowance!!! *facepalm* guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow night, picking out the stupid serging so I can GET to the seam to move the pleats up. UGH.

On the quest to fit into my clothing front: I did a killer workout yesterday and feel like a 90 year old woman today. Which is probably good. I've downloaded an app that [livejournal.com profile] blackcat452 and my upstairs neighbor recommended (separately!) to help me track my calories. I'm on day two of being on a strict diet, I've been measuring out everything so I really KNOW how much I'm eating. We'll see if it makes a difference or just makes me avoid food all together. I tend to fixate.

You've really made great progress on the Titanic dress despite your set backs. At least you didn't set the right sleeve in the left armsceye!

So proud of you for doing the workout and counting calories!! It's so rough to start. Lord knows I know. At your age, it took a good week to see a pound or two drop off. Now? A good 2-3 weeks. Yikes! At least you don't drink, which is so helpful. I'm sorry my party tomorrow is going to ruin your diet. Don't let that frustrate you. Let it be a scheduled, outrageous cheat and get right back on the horse on Monday!
