you can make mistakes here and you won't be blamed...

I wish I had my mom's hands. I was thinking about this as I drifted in and out of sleep while watching Oprah. I wish I had her hands. My mom has healing hands, if something is hurt she can gently touch it so you don't feel any pain, and help you clean it, and when she lets go you feel better. She can run her hand across your back and make your breathing easier. I grew up sitting on my green stool in the kitchen watching my mother's hands. I know every curve in them, the simple wedding band she wears, the shape of her nails. My mother has working hands. I've watched her make countless halloween costumes, save dying plants, paint beautiful works. My mother has growing hands, she's the only person I have ever seen make a violet bloom. My mother has beautiful hands. I wish I had my mother's hands. I wish I could wipe away pain, bring comfort, create, grow...perhaps that comes with age
