In my efforts to regain my sewing room this week I have continued my organizing/purging.

I just threw away all the patterns I made pre-this year. For a few reasons 1. I've gained far too much weight for them to fit anyway and 2. they probably never fit perfectly to begin with, I'm always learning and none are to the point where I'd go "oh make THAT exactly again!" But it was fun flipping through all the memories in the pattern bin. I have a bag of modern clothing ones to go to the thrift store (again not my sizes anymore) but for some reason just couldn't part with my prom dress pattern and my first ren faire pattern. I will NEVER make them again...but somehow I wasn't ready quite yet to say bye to them. Probably next purge.

I also bit my lip and threw out my first attempt at effigy stays (from I think 2001) which never fit or worked, my first attempt at a victorian corset (2004) which DID fit but was made of the wrong materials to let anyone wear now, and my first attempt at regency long stays (2013) that were just a complete failure. Hard to just toss that much work but none of them were successful really and they take up space in my too tight drawers.

So now my sewing room isn't a complete disaster. There's still fabric piled on the bed as I need to do a big fabric purge and re-organization but I think I'm ready for a sewing break. I've decided that for the next few days I'm going to make myself set the egg timer and do 10 min of cleaning before I can sew. In small chunks like that It should come along without me even noticing.
