crazy costumers ahoy
Jun. 29th, 2009 10:34 pmIt takes a special kind of person to decide to make a petticoat involving wool batting, wool backing and silk in June when the forcast is for 80's for the forseable future....
And in more frustrating news why is it just when I get going with a project my tendonitis says "oh you're having fun are you and making progress? well SUCK IT BITCH! NO MORE FOR YOU! *sigh* I really want to start quilting! It's in the hoop ready to go...bah

holy photocopy batman
Jun. 28th, 2009 09:59 pmI'm using a quilting diagram from Costume Close Up for my quilted petticoat. Now I'm told the best way to blow such things up is by overhead projector, but I don't have one of those. So Off to Kinko's I went. And 20 copies and one argument with the Kinko's lady later TA DA! Pattern! For anyone else who may be interested it's a 390% blow up to get the inch to be an inch.

quilted petticoat
Jun. 27th, 2009 10:41 pmOkay I officially have all the peices so I can begin my diary for the Quilted Petticoat I'm going to make.
Here's the plan:
I bought lovely pink silk twill from work for the fashion fabric
Cream wool from Jomar for the lining
and Mom bought me 100% wool batting from a specialty quilting shop near molly
I also go 100% silk thread to do the quilting.
I'm going to hand quilt the whole thing off a petticoat in the colonial williamsburgh book. Tonight I'm going to review my construction plans so tomorrow on my day off I can start graphing out the design.
The goal is to have this finished by christmas so this winter Amy and I can go down to Williamsburgh and wear our pretty winter clothing. Barring that I'll be hitting up downtown philly.
Off I go!
