I finished my shawl!!! I did a real write up on my blog but here's a picture as proof. I'm no longer completely naked for Gettysburg now I have a corset, hoop AND shawl...

I'm busy getting over a cold, complete with low grade fever, the last two days. And my in-laws arrive on Wednesday so I'm in serious cleaning-related trouble...Rob swears he's going to clean while I'm at work tomorrow and he does often go on a whirl wind cleaning tear. At least I scrubbed the kitchen last week.

well it's not finished, I have to weave in the ends and add the fringe...but look a ridiculously large shawl! I was kinda sewed out after the push to finish the CBLdress, so a bit of knitting was nice. Proof I have kept making stuff.

I've been working on the shawl pretty consistently and I'm nearing the end of my second skein. I have a question for those of you who said you've made it before.

Could you possibly measure your Center Back from the top edge till the first stripe beings? I don't have a good idea on how big it should be before I start the stripes, the pattern just says to make it as big as you want..but I have no idea how big that is!

I thank you in advance.

dammit!

I've been working along on my shawl and it's going pretty smoothly. It's juuust getting to the point where it has to get smooshed to fit on my circular needles.

and then I see it....2.5" in or 11 rows...I messed up a stitch and there's an obvious oops...

ARGH!! I already frogged 8 rows earlier to fix an error but my rows are much longer now and that would mean taking out several hours of work, to redo several hours of work. But I promised myself I would try to not leave errors and be good and fix them...but the idea of pulling out that much work is kind of heartbreaking. So I guess I'm putting it down for tonight while I try to decide what to do.

Knitting

I picked up some natural and brown marled worsted weight wool yarn on clearance at work today for $1.97 a skein and I've been pondering what I could make with it. I'm on a historic knitting kick at the moment and I was thinking of making this shawl it looks pretty simple, all garter stitch and basic increases which I can do. So I'm poking around ravelry trying to figure out just exactly how it gets the chevron shape (I think it comes from increasing in the CB and the edges) originally I thought it was two pieces sewn together, but I don't think so now. A lo- and behold [livejournal.com profile] koshka_the_cat has already made it of course!
I swear she's done everything! LOL. Guess I know who to direct questions to when she gets back from costume college.
