So about two days ago [livejournal.com profile] curiouschilde  and I decide to go to Belivdere Victorian Days in NJ a week from yesturday. And just kind of half on a whim I thought I'd see what would happen if I started working on a new dress...crazy? yes. but I'm not super stressing over it. If it doesn't work out it's not like I don't have things I could wear.

I started with a lovely fall of 1883 fashion plate from HB

My dress will actually be a hyrbid of these two.

I'm using the pattern I developed for Kat's Garden Party for my green and white dress, which made the whole thing go really quickly. I bought the fabric at Jomar for $1 a yard around 3 and by dinner I had a mostly finished bodice. A burn test revealed it's a wool blend, probably acrylic. But the price was right and it's a lovely fall color.

I had intended to put a high collar on it, but totally on auto pilot just cut the pattern straight and thus ended up with a v-neck again, I'll probably try to pull some kind of dickie out of

I actually put in button holes! Amazing. and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out, Not bad for my first bodice with functional buttonholes (typically I avoid them like the plague.

And now the pictures.

The area that's wonky under the fourth button is because I realized I didn't have that stud on my busk properly hooked, thus the bubble. I'm not totally happy with the fit through the armscyes but not unhappy enought to take it appart on a quickie project.   .
