Rob and I have been thinking a lot about houses, and wanting to buy our own house. Now currently my down payment consists of  four jars stuffed with change (so like 100.00), but we've been thinking about what  we want and how the hell we go about doing it. I've been looking at houses online to try to get an idea of the market, we're hoping to meet with a bank and a realtor soon. I know we need to get our financial ducks in a row so to speak but I don't know what the row looks like so before I start riling up ducks I want to know where I've shoving them. Meanwhile we stumbled upon This House and I WANT. *sigh* Looking at specific houses before we in any way had the money together was a really dumb idea. but here's the part that kills me, I've been playing around with all the "how much would your mortgage be" things and in every single one in every way the amount we'd pay on a mortgage would be LESS by several hundred dollars than the 1,000 a month we currently pay for rent! And no our utilities are not included. So we pay 1,000 PLUS utilities.

So I've got the I want a house blues bad. I called my mother for advice and I've never been shot down so in MY LIFE! It was "give up houses are lots of responsibility and cost a ton to maintain etc etc"

Now I don't want to rush into buying a house by any means. But I'm 27, I have a stable job, a boyfriend I know I'm going to marry soon and he also finally has a stable job. If a House works out to be LESS a month then we can save that extra $ for things like when the roof goes. I mean it seems like something well worth looking into at least right?

so for now I'm hoarding money like a hamster in an attempt to get a down payment together. But I think unless I win the lottery (or publishers clearing house which I did just enter better safe than sorry right?) it'll take by my calculations....about 20 years. blech. on that.

oh an on an unrelated note I've discovered why some people like polyester. I never washed the blood out of a shirt from a movie shoot Rob and I did before Halloween...IT CAME OUT. all of it! Guess you really can't stain polyester. it has ONE lone perk I guess.
