Sorry for the silence
Jul. 15th, 2013 02:03 pmI've been horrible about updating lately. Lets see a brief rundown:
Rob and I drove 8.5 hours out to Ohio on Thursday and then 8.5 hours BACK from Ohio on Sunday for my family reunion. I never appreciated when I was younger just how lucky I was to have a loving, supportive, wonderful family. Saturday night we had a giant cook out, a hilarious game of charades and then a bunch of people played a dive-for-the-ball-serious game of beach vollyball, but no one kept score. I love that. While only 12 could play at a time (they played regulation rules) the rest of us (33 total people there) sat around in folding chairs cheering both sides on, and chatting about where we all were in life. How many families of 33 people can get together have such a smooth and drama free wonderful time? There was the usual family Olympics Saturday morning and family talent show Saturday afternoon. It was heaven. Followed but a two week drive home through PA on Sunday :-p I live in a stupidly long state. Miles and miles and miles and miles of corn.
My niece is now 8 months old and the cutest thing I've ever seen. I had no idea I would feel this much love and attachment to a baby that isn't mine. Rob and I talked seriously on the way home about moving to MA to be closer to them.
I was originally supposed to work today but got a call saying it was dead and please don't come in. I wouldn't have asked for it off as we need the money and hours but I'm actually really glad the universe saw fit to give me a day off. I'm tired. I really really should be sewing as
hiraimi and
mandie_rw and I are supposed to be wearing sheer 1860s dresses on Saturday and mine is currently a pile of folded fabric...but it's supposed to be 90 on saturday and I just don't do well in heat and corsets. I pass out so stupidly easily. I don't WANT to be the wuss who bails...but unless the weather drastically changes it may just be the two of them going and looking fabulous. They can send me pictures telling me how much I stink...either way I want to make the dress, we'll make up another excuse. Longwood garden's has been floated around. but all I want to do today is sleep and unpack.
