This is why I'm not allowed to buy fabric anymore...

I finally devoted some time to sorting through allll the fabric I have. I have piles from projects I started once and will probably never finish, things people gave me, things I bought before I knew it was so wrong...And some lovely tropical weight wool I have ZERO memory of buying. oopsie.

I pulled out a big pile for Goodwill, a few things I'll offer up to y'all and refolded and sorted everything..

TA-DA!

I'm not sure when the last time was that I got it all nicely put away like that. It's a bloody miracle!

And while I was in there I found a few possible fabrics for a hypothetical-I'm-not-really-making-this Regency

First up is this brown kind of leafy print. I bought it in 2008 intending to make an 1860s dress out of it..not sure why

Contestant number 2: A blue floral from my MIL she'd be chuffed to DEATH if I used it.

And behind door number 3 we have a linen with a gold "metallic" stripe. I'm pretty sure it's a linen rayon blend, but it feels definitely heavier on the linen. BUT I only have 4 yards of this one...can you do a regency in 4 yards? perhaps with short sleeves?

I also found at the bottom of the pit of despair fabric bin a card of vintage buttons I thought would be perfect, because of course under 4 metric tons of fabric is the best place to store 4 little buttons.

Me too! Though I like the gold stripe. I think you might be able to get the dress out of 4 yds.

Blue floral or gold stripe. And I made my sari dress out of less fabric, so it can be done.

I like the blue floral or gold stripe too and would add to go with the drapier one. I've found the stiffer the hand the less it will flow and the more stay-puffed I will look. ;P

Fabric purging...I should do that! Mostly in the synthetics bin...

Haha, of course under tons of fabric is the best place to store pretty little buttons! You were keeping them safe! And I vote for the gold stripe, too - you can definitely get a Regency gown out of 4 yards, 'specially if it's short-sleeved.

BAHAHA THAT'S NOTHING. I have literally more than a ton of fabric. As in, over 2,000 lbs of fabric. Weighed it yesterday. XP It occupies 9 boxes in my room, one giant tub in the garage, another giant tub under my bed... I *think* that's it... and it's still overflowing into other rooms. XP
