There isn't much I like about the things I sew, but I DO think I can have nice neat handsewing.


I'm only half following the pattern instructions so the first thing I did was put in the fall front. I ended up hand sewing the lining in because it was one of those instances where a period technique just doesn't go under the machine well. I'm pretty pleased with it.





I got the inseam finished and now the outside legs are pinned so I can put it on him for a fitting. I have to say so far I'm impressed with the shape. After face-off we shall have a fitting.


ETA: OMG Rob just tried them on and they're HORRENDOUSLY dumpy in the crotch. SCADS for fabric than it needs which all wadded up to create the most hideous camel toe I've EVER seen! I pinned over 2" out of each in-seam! Luckily they're still unfinished enough that I should be able to get in there and take them in pretty easily and hope to god that helps. They're just so bow-legged. Which I know is period but the legs are too wide.

I'll take a picture of Steve in his pants to see if we're having the same issue or not. He did try them on and had to sort of pull them here and there to get them to sit right/where they were supposed to. But the pants are black, so any issues might just not be visible.

If I can get the bloody things to fit right! I forgot how much I hated fitting the crotch on pants because women's clothing is so typically not pants!

Pant-things are EVOL. Why I'm glad we just have to fit skirts and bodices and sleeves and... well, at least they're not pants! :P Good luck with a hopefully easy fix!
