I was supposed to finish a new dress today for tall ships tomorrow...my brain had other ideas and shut down with a vomit inducing migraine. But I see to have perked up..so now I'm trying to make this dress:

Not look so damn stupid. I'm not sure what possessed me to put trim just around the bib like that...it's abrupt and looks stupid as the bib is slightly gathered...so HEEEELLLLPPP...ideas?

If I take it off is the dress horribly boring? a sash? diagonal stripes of the same ribbon? can't find any reference for that kind of trim on a bib anyway.

Take the trim off the bib and use it around the sleeve cuffs instead. You can also add more trim, if you have it, down the puffs of the sleeves. Also, maybe a light blue fichu?

I'd take it off, and maybe put it around the neckline. Or a sash would work. Regency can be very simple and a lwd is always appropriate.

I'd just take the trim off entirely and add a sash. The sash will echo the line of the skirt trim. Very thin trim like that is kind of unusual; so I'd hesitate to put it anywhere else without finding a similar example. And a very simple dress is perfectly appropriate in any case! ;)

I know I pulled it out and was all "What was I thinking!?"

I would take the trim off the bib, add a pretty sash, and add a lovely fichu or chemisette to fill out the neckline. You'll be surprised at how plain Regency bodices can look and still look good - you've got the fit, let that rock the show!

Glad you're feeling better. I'm so excited to meet up with you and Mandie tomorrow! My mother and I will be in chemises a la reine, with straw hats.

I like it! But I know what you mean so you can remove the trim and use on sleeves, and add a removable sash maybe?!
