So I'm making Simplicity 4055 which I've read some decent reviews of. It's just another version of Sense and Sensibility's dress patterns remarketed through Simplicty. too many S's. It's sort of an experiment, my first regency, quick deadline...don't think less of me ;-)...Anyway so since my short stays had an unfortunate run in with a pudding cup and need to finish drying from the wash I figured I'd skip a head a little and make progress on the dress. I mean if I don't finish the dress I'm naked...If the stays are unfinished I'll wear a bra...not perfect but the world would still go on. ANYWAY the deal with myself is if I make serious progress on the dress I get to work on the Bonnet during monday night football...sometimes I have to bribe myself. So I'm standing at the ironing board with my pattern peices (yes my table is too buried to cut on at the moment, I'll clean it off when I reach the skirt point....or use the floor....) and debating what size to cut. In simplicity sizes I'm usually 12 or 14, I made the stays a 10 because I read to cut one size smaller and they fit fine...so I'm debating 12 or 10...I look at the envelope wow a 36 in bust is a 10 okay that's a hair smaller than what I measure at the moment but I'm gonna go with that. Then I look at the pattern peice as I'm pinning it out and realize it says it has 7.25 INCHES OF EASE!!! Good lord! This is supposed to be fitted!! So I'm making an 8..that has a finished measurment of 38.75...which still is larger than I measure but I'll take it in a bit when I'm done....I mean SEVEN INCHES of ease! Good lord simplicity no wonder no one can make your patterns fit properly
