SO life has gotten a weeee bit busy lately. Example: I went in to work today at 6am. I left work at 3. I shall return to work at 8 and probably leave at 10...

My STL Cindi has injured herself in an as yet not completely clear way. She has a doctor's appointment on Monday to really determine what's wrong and until then is under strick doctor's orders not to go anywhere near work. This leaves me holding the store together as we get into our super super busy season. If you ever wondered if people still make their own Christmas gifts the answer is YES yes they do...

Also I've got a huge pile of christmas gifts to make, decorating to do, cookies to make, pies to back for thanksgiving (that's assuming I get to go home because Cindi is back)

Now that brings me back to my developing Victorian Christmas plans. And I'm left making a choice. I COULD still put my energy into knocking out a dress. I still have several weeks and several days off, BUT is it worth it? I could just wear the blouse of 100 pintucks, a lovely tree shirt cape, my muff and gloves and say I'm 1904 christmas instead. I do really want to do a Victorian Christmas dress, but I want to do it right. And I love the Holiday season so much I don't want to take the fun out of it by over stressing me. And at the moment my creative juices are more interested in decorating and making fun silly christmas projects and gifts.

So I think I'm calling the Victorian Christmas as a nothing new event. And I'm okay with that. It's more important to me to have fun with my friends and NOT make Rob crazy by having a frantic last min frenzy of dress making.

that is all. :-)

as opposed to your 100 jobs? :-) I can't say I envy you either running a small business this time of year with only two bodies. But that being said your one of the people who'll only get a recycled edwardian outfit, so as long as you're cool with it I consider that permission :-D

Of course it's permission. After all, I may be wearing my Cairo riding habit again (although I could make a skirt to go with my Edwardian riding jacket and have something winterish at least).

As shocking as it may sound, this is not our busy time of year. I think people just don't think of patterns as Christmas presents. But in January, we get sales from Christmas money.

We're hoping that changes now that the shop is open.

Gift Certificates! The perfect Christmas gift :-D I imagine as your amount of off the rack things increases you'll have more gift purchases.

We've been offering Gift Certificates for years. We even flog them especially around the holidays. Maybe we sell one every year. It's shocking!

But yeah. More off-the-rack will equal more gift sales. And like I said -- having a brick and mortar shop may help this year.
