Sometimes I wonder, did ______ century (in this case 18th) seamstresses ever get annoyed with garments in the same places I do now? Did she ever go "Drat I'm up to the eyelets! these buggers go on for days!" or "I really hate sewing sleeves!'

Clearly my brain is done with sewing eyelets. As I haven't been able to do more than a few a day due to school/work they feel never ending! Hoping to get them finished by the end of the weekend. Granted I also have to study for an exam on Monday...so we'll see how far I get.

They must have! I can't imagine the ongoing forever toiling that is making a dress!

Good luck finishing up! It feels so good to be done!

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. And I'll be they got tired of preparing their winter garments in the summer too. Laps full of heavy wool must have been much worse before the advent of air conditioning.

Oh, I'm pretty sure that they hated sewing some things as much as we do.

I seem to recall some bits in the Laura Ingals Wilder books where Laura was complaining about sewing sheets or something (and about how Mary had perfect teeny stitches and how much she envied her for that!).
