My year in costuming..
Jan. 1st, 2016 03:30 pmI was surfing my LJ for what I made this year. Firstly I have GOT to be better about post event write ups. like twice I actually did it. *facepalm* Secondly every single costume event I went to this year I went to with
mandie_rw...so I'll just steal photos from her. MWAH HA HA

First up was a giant orange butt afghan...which was both toasty and hilarious. I wore it at gettysburg but of course took no pictures of myself half dressed there :-p
Then I made a dress for
jennylafleur's card party that I got zero photos of that night, and she had the annoying habit of looking better in than me!

Then I made another white regency dress for Allaire's Fashion show...I apparently NEVER posted about this one. It's a fairly unremarkable dress...and kinda reminded me why people with wide shoulders shouldn't wear puffed sleeves.

(I also stole
mandie_rw's bonnet which was by far my best move)
Then I made a pretty cap from the Kannik's Corner pattern I've admired on other people so much. I never posted pictures of the cap as I HATED how my hair looked, my double chin, my fat face...but dammit I completely hand sewed it from silk Organza and it's pretty so I'm sharing it now.

(outfit subtitled how many shades of Orange can one Robin wear)
Next I started sewing for Gettysburg. I finished 1/8 of what I wanted but it didn't mater as I had some clothes and had too much fun to really care.
I made a wrapper, that I got no photos of but did wear the most. Sooooooo comfy. It started as the Laughing Moon wrapper pattern but required a serious amount of alteration. I'm stupid short waisted you see, and their sleeves are huge.

My very fortunate biggins was thanks to Amanda :-D and how could no one point out that my brooch was off center on my belt! NO ONE LOVES ME!
I also made the TV revere bodice in velvet and a plaid skirt. I had to borrow
hiraimi's undersleeves and chemisette as I ran out of time to make any. And
koshka_the_cat saved me from my sleeve melt down. (who puts in 3" of ease in a sleeve head from the 1860s?!)

I almost finished the knitted pineapple...it just needs a lining, so I guess that'll be a 2016 project.
And lastly, probably my favorite dress ever. I made it for Allaire's christmas event...and I enjoyed the pants off wearing it. Apparently the puffed sleeves on wide shoulders thing can be negated if you just go GIANTLY RIDICULOUS. Either way I had too much stinkin' fun wearing it

So my costuming resolutions for next year:
-ACTUALLY POST AFTER EVENTS. derp.
-Remember to get plenty of photos and try not to be making stupid faces in all of them.
-Clean out my drawers. I need to accept that I'm not ever going to be 120lbs again and let go or give away some costumes. I have a bad habit of hanging on to them to lend to people, use in movies, etc.
