So the halloween angst contiunes...but I found this pattern www.butterick.com/item/B3648.htm. I think it might work...Here's what I'm thinking...I'll start with the Jacket as that's the most difficult/important piece to the image...if I fail at everything but the jacket then Rob can wear a white shirt I'll buy at the thrift store with an ascot and his own dress pants...step two is I'll make the fall front breeches I'm LUSTING after thenI'll think about a shirt...that's my plan so far...I mean the time in my life to do menswear may have arrived......especially if i want to drag him to events with me

Costuming

Hello, I read your comment on the costuming area. I do a bit of historical costuming so here is my advice. I know how hard it can be to find outfits especially for guys. They just don't make them like they used to (sigh). So I usually hit all the Salvation army’s in the area and hope to get lucky. Sometimes you can find something that just needs a bit of adjustment to make it work without having to make the whole piece. Check the bridal and tux section for anything before 1900 as that’s the closest thing nowadays to the older styles. There is a good folk ware pattern for the female part. And the stays should hit a little bit higher up on the boobs they are after all the regency equivalent to the underwire braw. The dress itself should hit a bit above that. It should be pretty low the regency women were not afraid to show off their décolletage. I am a big Jane Austin fan so I hope things work out for you

Thanks, I already did a through scavange of my local thrift store loop, I'm a BIG thrift store lover. I came up with bubkis for him so I bought that pattern and hopefully it'll turn out well. I only invested 6 bucks in the fabric (joanns clearance is half off and I'm an employee as well) and I'm gonna take a stab at it. I'm gonna use some good sew in interfacing and shoulder pads and see what happens. If I fail miserably I'll try to buy one off ebay. I'm gonna try to do it in the next week so if I have to find a plan B I still have time. Thanks so much for your help! It's much appreciated.
