I have decided that I am not even going to try to finish the Mary Queen of Scots dress for Saturday. I'm never happy with how my dresses turn out when I do them that frantically and I can always wear the lovely dress I made last year. It's not like that is in any way a shabby dress! And I've only ever worn it ONCE! Seriously Robin get a grip here! So maybe Two people will possibly remember what I wore, that is hardly the end of the world. I may try to make a hat for it as I don't have any headwear (I borrowed a hat from Amy last year), and I would like to bring a present for the Queen. It's also possible I could go lower class, I mean that is how I spent the vast majority of my faire life when I worked there...I wonder if the costume contest is going that weekend....Either way the point is I'm not going to take all the enjoyment out of it by stressing over something that isn't worth stressing over. I'm going to Downingtown to train this week which will drastically increase my commute time and I'm just not feeling it right now. That being resloved I can now happily return to the christmas present I've been happily working on all week :-)

To celebrate my store finally having a store manager (YAY) and my being able to regain my life (even more YAY) on this my first day off in 10 days I went on a little shopping trip. First I went to the thrift store which was a total bust, eh it's hit or miss. Then I hit up Jomar and had some great successes. I found at the bottom of their table of wool remnants a great goose turd green wool gabardine, 2.00 a yard! And it's just a smidge shy of 3 yards. And trim that I think will be good for the Mary queen of scots dress. It's not the beaded one I was lusting over, but it was $.89 a yard instead of $24.99 so it fit much better into my budget. There was only about 5 yards there, a little less actually, but I bought all of it and getting it home I think if I'm really careful and the trim doesn't go around the hem I might just squeak it out.  So as I'm standing gabbing with the very nice jomar lady (who people call me at JOANNS looking for on a pretty regular basis) she asks if I know where my green wool came from... um of course I don't I work at Joanns not Jomar (even though they are apparently easy to confuse). They have a table to wool remnants that all came from the yve saint laurent studio! umm WOW...and I paid 2.00 a yard for it? Sweet. The trim I bought is very very similar to a trim we sell at joanns for 4.99, only I like it better :-)  So yeah if you want some designer wool swing by the Norristown Jomar.

Now I just need to make myself finish my mother's blouse so I can start the MQoS dress...I hate button holes!
