So there's a long list of things I SHOULD be doing...(Cleaning up apt from recent sewing explosion, laundry, dishes, etsy things etc) and even before Christmas I have to make a ren faire dress. But then I started chatting with [livejournal.com profile] madamkat and I got all excited about what I was going to wear on our possible Victorian outing in December (I also blame the fact I spent Friday stocking Christmas ornaments, which must mean December is almost here...)

So She said the exhibit will probably be 1880s to 1920s, I have a lovely 1904 outfit (the blouse of a 100 pintucks) that I could wear, OR I could wear one of my cool 1920's dresses, and I even have a fur trimmed vintage coat that would go with those...but that just doesn't' sound fun right now! [livejournal.com profile] madamkat  got me all excited about the idea of Winter wear! With of course a matching Muff!

So I'm thinking 1885-7 ish, I mean right now that's a big-ish. I found some lovely pictures of winter things and that's just from internet trolling. I haven't delved into my books yet.

First up we've got these selections from Strawbridges and Clothier's 1885-6 Winter Catalog. I am especially fond of the bottom Left corner and Bottom center. I'm picturing a lovely dark blue velveteen with black lambswool trim. and of course the muff!

If I was feeling REALLY ambitious This Gorgeous outfit at the MET which has a matching coat. sooo pretty
Which is really quite lovely. But if I could find the right fabric is basically a nicely tailored dress with gorgeous trim down the sides. Which I have to say is totally doable.

Ponder...ponder...ponder...

You are a being of true and utter evil. I just finished summer clothing. And now you're making me covet winter clothing?!? I could really do burgundy velvet...

Oh, I totally blame Kat for my interest in this decade at all. But now I blame you too. Can you feel the love?

I may have started it, but you brought it to the next level! Wow, what great inspiration images! That burgundy velvet with black beaded trim is a dream dress!
