Trying to work on a resume...mostly just staring at a cursor. I haven't ever made a non-theater resume. This is so foreign and strange to me! What the hell is my objective? If I knew that I don't think this would be as hard...

Start writing down a list of employment dates, facts, school years, what you studied, what you did at your other work places. Don't worry about formating, just get the basic facts down first.

And your objective will change depending on who you are sending your resume to, to better fit with what they are looking for and how you fit with what they are looking for. Same for the cover letter.

Actually.. they say these days, don't have an objective. Things have become a bit more like the theatre resumes. I'll send you mine so you can get a look :)

Yeah, I haven't had an objective on my resume in a while.

And I've always thought that bit was silly anyways. Because really, what are you going to say? "My objective is to get a job." "My objective is to get off unemployment." "My objective is to have a big house with a white picket fence." "My objective is to make 6 figures and make my parents proud of me." See what I mean? You can't be honest in these things!

Check out the Knock 'Em Dead Resume book from your local library. It really helps...
