So instead of cleaning out my sewing room for my Mom's imminent arrival tomorrow I've been wasting massive amounts of time on the internet looking for examples of plaid in regency dresses. Obviously it's not especially common so I'm digging around a lot to find a few examples. But I've totally been bitten. I've compiled a pinterest page of the examples I've found, so if you know of any other examples of early 19th century plaid please let me know!

The awesome [livejournal.com profile] frau_elsebeth found this crazy obnoxious plaid at Jomar. It's not exactly the same colorway but frankly I think it would look better on me anyway. And the point is really that it's crazy loud right?

Total awesomeness!! I have some of that fabric from Jomar too! I'm making a 1880's dress with it someday (after I make the corset)...you SO should make an awesome Regency out of it!! I know plaid did happen in the Regency, and then became much more popular in the early Romantic/Victorian 1830's...

I remember petting it when you bought it! I promise I won't wear it at the same time as you...

haha, no worries - we could be mismatched twins from different centuries! I think a few other costumers have some too: probably enough to do a Jomar plaid dress wearing someday, sometime! ;)

I think that's why I love plaid and polka dots they're just so obnoxiously happy. Or they make me happy.

I've been looking for a good enough plaid for 3 or so years to make this dress ... it needs to be lightweight enough to drape well 1815 seabathing dress

Not that I'm obsessed or anything *cough* this fashion plaid looks more checkered than plaid but could be either really
