okay so I was pretty sure I was going to make this dress for the card party.

The original is wool, and I picked up some cotton to make it out of...but now I'm having horrible seconds thoughts. Is cotton to casual? Is the whole dress too boring? Should I be looking for a taffeta or something with shine? I am making myself crazy here.

And I can't seem to find the perfect something to put around the bottom. HELP LJ WORLD! I'm Making myself NUTS HERE!

It's just a question of accessorizing. I wore a cotton dress to Jenny Rose's last card party, but with feathers and jewelry, it's not a problem. That inspiration dress is great.

I'll echo everyone else - the key is accessories. I think Regency is the one era you can totally get away with cotton in the evening - they did love their muslins!

There are so many period evening gowns in cotton--I think it will be fine. Dress it up pretty with accessories! You can never have too many.

I love it! It's all about the accessories (jewelry, feathers, hat, spencer, shawl or whatever)...trim or detailing on this dress is a bonus, you can definitely make a lovely orange cotton dress and look smashing!!
