Thank you all for your wonderful supportive comments on my last post. I am on the official waiting list. I am in the number two spot. I think it's highly unlikely that two people will go through all the steps to get into this very specific program then change their minds two weeks before classes start. All I can hope is that a few people's funding doesn't come through or something. The director seems to think that's pretty normal, but I'm not sure how much of that is her trying to be positive and get me off the phone.

So as I don't deal especially well with limbo and not knowing I have been distracting myself today with mindlessly easy sewing making a-line jumpers for my niece while blasting the angry music I loved in my late teens. I'm sure old ladies on my floor would be horrified with the profanity if they could hear it, but my experience with them has been they're pretty deaf.

Just trying to keep muddling on. I wouldn't mind waking up from a coma in two weeks and just being told Yes you are okay or No you still fail at life. I must look as sad as I feel as I went to Joann's for buttons today and Laura went "uh oh what's wrong with you"

Just checked LJ and saw all this. Like everyone has said, shit happens and it's not your fault. So very sorry for all the stress and heartache you're going through, but #2 is a promising place to be. You might also ask if you can go ahead and start classes just in case someone drops after the first week or two (as a former teacher, I've seen it happen quite a lot), though I don't know if your schedule will allow it. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you, and hoping two of your classmates find alternate ways to spend the next few years of their life ;-)

yes I'm going to ask if I can audit the first week just incase. Students have to bring a crap ton of things the first day, like immunizations and I could see someone not having that together. And as they can't schedule me at work cause if I CAN go to class I will, so I'm gonna ask to audit.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

People drop out for all sorts of reasons, so I'd say your chances are pretty good. I know waiting can be the worst part, but try to keep your spirits up. I'll be thinking of you.

Sounds like you're in a great position considering the situation. And people do drop out all the time.

Fingers crossed for you that this will all just end up being the rocky start to a great year at school!

I will keep my fingers crossed until they cramp, and then I will duct tape them there hoping that two people find some reason to drop from this program.

Like i said, it will all work out somehow. Maybe not the way you expect, but it will all work out.

*HUGS*

Oh my goodness I'm sorry i missed your original post! You don't fail at life, life just sucks sometimes (just ask my sister - the amount of stupid school mess-ups and hoops that shouldn't be there hurting her life has been epic).

I hope it works out that you can get in this year after all (and everyone is right, people do drop out of these types if programs all the time) but if it doesn't i'm sure its for a reason that in hind sight you will look back on and understand. Great things are in your future, you are too awesome for them not to be!

If you need to talk (evar!) im here! We can Skype or message or something, just let me know!

I just can't believe the school relied on a single letter - that there was no follow-up of any kind. A letter can get lost so easily especially if you aren't aware it's coming and when and don't know to look out for it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Agreed. If they're going to send something like that, it should at least have delivery confirmation, or they should follow up with a phone call the week before it's due. If it's such a small program, you would think that wouldn't be a problem.
