Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list.

And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Most of these are decidedly unattainable but I believe in putting wishes into the universe if for no other reason than articulation.

1.I would like to not be behind on my mortgage. What kills me is that they won't let me make a payment if I can't make the WHOLE payment. TAKE MY MONEY SO I DON'T GET MORE BEHIND. *sigh*

2. A healthy husband. Depression sucks. Rob hasn't worked a big job in months. See #1. It's killing us. I called to schedule a therapy appointment for him Friday because he can't even get himself to make that call. They weren't there. But I'll call again on Monday. I need to advocate for him as he can't seem to at the moment.

3. Vogue Pattern 8850 for our Vintage Tea in early December.

4. a really good 18th century sleeve pattern. I can't ever lift my arms. I think part of why I hate the 18th century. Actually a really good prow front stays pattern would probably help me hate it less too.

5. Copying [personal profile] danabren a christmas card. I usually love Christmas but this year is proving hard for me to battle out of the blues. But I love getting Cards in the mail. I put them all on the mantel.

6. World peace. (what if Miss American can ask for it so can I)

7. My car to be working. It's at the shop and going to cost $1700 to fix...so it's not gonna be fixed probably ever. and I miss having my own car and not waiting for Rob.

8. recommendations for a place to take pictures of the Alphabet Dress. I got zero good pictures of it and I really want to do a blog post about it. but I need to take nicer photos first.

9. any knitting needles. especially tiny ones. I don't have that many but I've really gotten into knitting. But I don't start projects sometimes cause I have to get all the shit to start.

10. Update your journal. I love and miss the community here. So if you really want to make my day post something. What are you working on? what are your holiday plans? favorite ice cream?

I'm super good at 10. And I'm plotting another. You might be able to guess...

Is there anyplace with giant alphabet sculptures? That'd be a fun place to take pictures of that. Of course, I just totally made that up...

You know I know the secret to world peace!

It's so hard to find places for good photos. I want good pictures of my rain cloud dress too. Clearly, we need to find another ball...

HUGE hugs to you on the husband thing. Last year, my husband was so depressed he could barely get out of bed and he was having random panic attacks at least once a week, mostly more like 2+ times. His job let him go. It was the worst. If Rob is not currently working with a psychiatrist, I highly recommend it. We worked intensively with a specialist to get Rich on a mix of medications that have improved his quality of life a thousandfold. It felt like it took forever but now we're looking at alllmost a year on this particular set of drugs and he is just so miles and miles better than he was. There is hope. It can get better. Please please please feel free to PM me, FB Message me, Slack message, email (katianye@gmail.com or klovely@bigdutchmanusa.com) or call me (6166901565) any time. Even if it's a good day and you want to tell someone. Especially if it's a bad day and you just want to rage at the universe and depression. This is something you don't have to do alone. Caregiving for mental illness is so hard and you need support and love and sympathy just as much as the depressed person.

*hugs* Some of those things are tough to deal with. I am happy to help out with #10. Also, happy to read and comment any time you post, so you know that you're not alone here in the interwebs! :)

*hugs* Number 2 is so hard :/
Are you more looking for circs or straight knitting needles ? I might have a few I no longer use.
