Current status in the Coccagna household. I can hear Rob snoring from the office. Ellie had SO much fun last night. we had a rather impromptu party that I shall call quite successful. Ellie got to throughly sniff [personal profile] mandie_rw 's imaginary boyfriend and deemed him worthy lap status. Poor Tom probably didn't realize he was now going to have to pet her ALL THE TIMEZ. Ellie has the funniest habit of claiming people. "you. you're nice. now you pet me." and just sitting on them/their laps/their feet etc. I suspect Amanda has a dog in her future as he is definitely dog people.

I guess it's not a New Years post if I don't do a costume year in review.

Clearly the loss of Amanda resulted in less sewing from most of the usual suspects. But I managed a not HORRIBLE amount of things.

1. Copper open robe for our Georgian picnic. Which was really fun and easy. We should do that again. Strawberry Mansion was so very welcoming.

2. We had planned to go to the Reading Airshow which was then rained out. I feel kind of torn about going again. I DO like going, but then there's talk that the Nazi re-enactors are actually trying to get young skin heads and that I don't like. So I feel really torn. I have wonderful friends that go. Anyway I made the hilariously disastrous poncho and my favorite flamingo skirt that I wear pretty much all the damn time. Plus I LiKE 40s and it's nice to have an excuse...but...I dunno I'll ponder how I feel by April this year.

(subtext Don't make this poncho. ever.)

3. We went to the "WWI re-enactment at Ringwood manor" that was a VERY loose description...and I wouldn't say it was worth going to but we make our own fun and the grounds were lovely. So sure I made an outfit for a nice chance to play dress up and take photos with my girls. and really that's what I needed at that moment, so no complaints. It was a fun 1916 outfit. I'd wear it again. I'd like to do something in honor of the 19th amendment's anniversary this year. Any suggestions?

4, and 5. I made TWO dresses for Belvidere. Which was silly as it rained and I didn't dress Sunday. But the throw-away project would have been my tea gown and omg it was my favorite thing I made all year. I just FELT pretty in it.

I'd be lying if I said I liked the dinner dress. but it was functional. I didn't embarrass anyone. The downside of Belvidere is really that it's a blast and there's no way to take nice photos.

6. I made a fop suit. It was really very disappointing to me. It was 2 weeks after Belvidere and I as always couldn't get my shit together. I didn't do enough fittings. I just didn't do enough period. So I'd like to take it apart and re-fit it. Rob of course put on a good show...but when the thing everyone is blown away by are your stockings you did something wrong.

I want to raise the bottom edge of the coat so you can SEE the nice waistcoat, and the whole coat is just too big.

7. I made [personal profile] ktlovely  a knitted sontag. Have I sent it to her yet? of course not don't be silly why would I do that.

That got long so I guess I'll do a separate post for my 2019 plans...slash I should really make some 2019 plans.
