I know I said I wasn't going to sew anything for Ft. Fred but I caved and made a new petticoat. I was worried about my wool dress dragging and getting dirty (we'll just leave out the part about not wanting to fix the crooked hem) so I decided to make a nice 100% machine sewn cotton petticoat to wear under it and polonaise up the back. Where closed front gowns ever polonaised? I haven't the foggiest...and if they weren't...I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going "LA LA LA" if they were by all means share some documentation with me ;-)

Don't you like my regency stays under it?

and yes I DO in fact have documentation for the pink polka dots of all things...

It took me about an hour to make from start to finish, now I've spent twice that long pulling threads to square up this linen/cotton stripe I picked up for an apron at JoAnn's. I hate how you have to cut off 4 inches as the fabric comes in so crooked.

Hem pulled up through the inside. The best example I can think of right now is the red-and white striped dress in the Kyoto collection; it's open front, but you get the idea.
