a picture of the horror. This is after I took in both seams to try and get some fabric out of there. They're just so damn splayed! Did I sew something on wrong?!? They look like pants just really dumpy pants.






And after the 3r or 4th time being taken in.


They're getting better...I guess...

Hmm, which pattern is this? Breeches are always sort of a nightmare but I haven't had this sort of fitting issue before, I use the eagles view pattern.

And I don't think it's bad in the second pic, maybe iron it again and check fit but you may have fixed it.

it's actually this simplicity pattern. I figured they'd be horribly inaccurate but fit more like modern pants and just be easier. Plus it was .99..somehow it's had all the nightmares of period patterns fitting wise!

Don't give up! It really looks like you're going in the right direction! Breeches are tough, always. I try to remind myself that they were, depending on the pair, supposed to be pants you could ride a horse in, which results in odd fullness in some patterns. All riding breeches today are made of modem stretch fabrics. Even my heavy breeches I wear to horse shows are 10% Lycra. Before they had that, you had to cut a lot more ease into the seat and crotch.
